How To Tint Your Brows At Home with Refectocil

You will need:

  • Refectocil Tint Colour (eg: Natural Brown)
  • Cream or Liquid Oxidant (Developer – we recommend cream)

Step 1: Preparation

  • Remove contact lenses (if applicable).
  • Clean the eyebrow area with Micellar Oil-free Eye Makeup remover or similar product. (Use a mix of baby shampoo and water if you do not have any eye makeup remove at home)
  • Pat your brows dry.

Step 2: Mix & Apply

  • Immediately before tinting mix 2cm of tint (squeeze out of the tube) and 2cm of RefectoCil Oxidant 3% Cream OR 10 drops of Refectocil Oxidant 3% Liquid into a creamy paste, using a brush/application stick.
  • Afterwards apply to eyebrows evenly.

Step 3: Application Time

  • Brows: Leave on for 5-10 minutes. The longer the application, the more intense the result.

Step 5: Remove

  • Remove by using cotton pads and water. Ensure all tint is thoroughly removed. Tip: If you applied tint to one side first, also remove from this side first.

Additional Tips

  • Discard any un-used tint after application, it will not keep longer than 30-minutes once it has been mixed up.
  • Allergy test: We recommend an allergy test (apply a small amount of product on your inner elbow for 10-15 minutes to check for a reaction – if any reaction occurs do not use) before the first application as well as after long periods without tinting. Do not use if any reaction occurs.

FAQ’s

Why do I need a seperate developer and tint colour?

Tint colours and developer “activate” when mixed together – this is the nature of all professional brow colour products. Both products are offered seperately as one developer enables all 9 shades of dye to be used, so it’s a very economical method of application. The colour tube contains pigment/dye whereas the developer contains peroxide which opens up the cuticle and allows the pigment to be deposited. It’s a time-tested science!

What will the different colours look like?

It’s worth noting tints only work on lighter hair. Eg: A Light Brown shade will not show on on black hairs, which are darker. Choose your natural hair colour in the chart below (left column) and compare to the tint colour you’re using. This will show an approximate colour outcome.
