Hybrid Tints

A hybrid tint is a professional lash and brow dye that colours the skin as well as the hair in a single application. Where a standard tint only stains the hairs, a hybrid formula deposits pigment into the skin underneath and around them too - giving a fuller, more "filled-in" brow or lash line without a single needle involved.

That skin-stain is what puts hybrid tints in the same conversation as henna brow and brow lamination results, minus the separate stencils and setting steps. It's also why they've become the default for brow techs who want definition to hold up between appointments, not just colour on the hair itself.

How does a hybrid tint differs from a standard tint?

Stains hair: Both do.

Stains skin: Standard tint barely touches it, and what's there fades within days. Hybrid tint is designed to stain the skin properly.

Skin retention: A few days for standard tint, versus up to around 1–2 weeks for hybrid.

Hair retention: 4–6 weeks for standard tint, versus up to around 6–7 weeks for hybrid.

Consistency: Standard tint is cream-based. Hybrid comes in cream or gel.

Best for: Standard tint is hair colour only. Hybrid gives you definition as well as hair colour.

Why salons are moving to hybrid

  • One product, two results. No separate henna stencil-and-tint routine - mix, apply, done.
  • Longer-looking definition between fills, which shows up in rebooking rates more than most retail add-ons do.
  • Ammonia-free formulas are now standard across the category, which matters for clients with sensitised skin or frequent lash lift/tint combos.
  • Works on lashes and brows from the same tube, so it earns its shelf space.

What we stock

We carry two hybrid tint systems: Bronsun, in gel and cream formats with matching developer, and RefectoCil Intense Brow[n]s, a plant-based two-step system (base gel plus activator) rather than a developer-mixed tint.

FAQ

How long does a hybrid tint last?
On skin, roughly 1 to 2 weeks depending on skin type and exfoliation (oilier skins often see less vs. drier skin types). On hair, expect around 6 weeks. Again, oilier skin and daily cleansing will shorten skin retention.

Do hybrid tints work on lashes as well as brows?
Yes - most professional hybrid dyes, including Bronsun and Refecticl Intense Brow[n]s, are formulated for both.

Are hybrid tints ammonia-free?
The Bronsun and Intense Brow[n]s ranges we stock are both ammonia-free.
